Kintsugi Rainbows was born during a season of profound grief following the passing of my father. As I learned to navigate my heart forever changed, I found myself returning again and again to my creative practice—not to escape my grief, but to meet it with presence. In the moments during our celebration of life preparations, rainbows began appearing with remarkable frequency, gently reminding me that joy, beauty and wonder still existed alongside the sorrow.

This collection explores the sacred meeting place between heartbreak and hope, where loss becomes love in another form, and where healing isn't about becoming who we once were, but honoring who we are becoming through life’s transitions, big and small.

Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of kintsugi—the art of repairing broken pottery with gold—these paintings celebrate the beauty that emerges through life's fractures. Each rainbow represents resilience, transformation, and the unseen threads that continue to connect us with those we love. They are invitations to remember that brokenness is not the end of our story; it is often where our deepest beauty begins.

Created with flowing layers of alcohol ink, metallic gold, and luminous color, these works carry an ethereal energy that reflects the mystery of life, the tenderness of grief, and the quiet joy that can arise when we allow ourselves to remain open.
